7.) Outline principles that define the BLOA.
An easy question and definitely one of the short ones, but something you should still know anyway because you should have already known the principles! Here they are again:
BLOA PRINCIPLES
And, in case it asks you for an example study or something to support this level's importance:
Phineas Gage - a case study where an iron bar went through his head, damaging his frontal lobe but not killing him
Results: He changed dramatically in personality, although his major developmental stuff was unaffected
Significance: Localization shows up strong in this, so biology (parts of brain and physiology) is key
BLOA PRINCIPLES
- Behavior can be innate (we are born with it) because it is generally based
- Behavior maybe influenced by evolutionary processes
- Animal research can provide insight into human behavior. A significant amount of research is undertaken using animals.
- There are biological correlates of behavior. It should be possible to find a link between a specific biological factor (a hormone or a neurotransmitter) and a specific behavior. To find these links is the aim of biological researchers.
- All behavior has a physiological basis (something physical to do with the body)
